This tool runs entirely inside your browser. Your files are never uploaded, never stored, and never seen by anyone but you.

Pick the format from real numbers, not a rule of thumb

The size under each format is your own image actually encoded that way, at the quality you have set. Most converters make you choose first and find out afterwards; the differences between formats depend so heavily on the picture that a general rule is often wrong for the file in front of you.

Which format should I choose?

  • JPG — the safest choice for photographs that other people or older software will open. It cannot store transparency.
  • WebP — usually the smallest of the three at matching quality, and it keeps transparency. Every current browser reads it; some older desktop software does not.
  • PNG — lossless, so every pixel survives exactly. The right choice for screenshots, logos and line art, and the largest for photographs.

Converting iPhone photos

iPhones save in HEIC. Safari can read it directly; other browsers cannot, and will say so rather than failing quietly. If you are not on Safari, sharing or exporting the photo as JPG from the Photos app first will let you convert it here.

Why the transparency warning?

Because JPG has no transparency at all, so see-through areas have to be filled with something — white, here. The warning only appears for images that genuinely contain transparent pixels, not for every PNG, since most PNGs are fully opaque and a warning on all of them would be worth ignoring.

Limits

Up to 100 images at a time, each up to 100 MB. Converting runs in a background thread inside your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
